Grafton Optical expands their Dry Eye diagnosis and treatment portfolio
With the introduction of OptiClear XL IPL; for the Treatment of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction.

Grafton Optical is pleased to announce the addition of OptiClear XL IPL to its dry eye portfolio, providing eye care professionals with an advanced treatment solution for Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) associated with evaporative dry eye disease.
OptiClear XL combines clinically established intense pulsed light technology with advanced cooling, ergonomic treatment delivery and a dedicated treatment mode designed to enhance patient comfort.
MGD is a major contributor to evaporative dry eye disease, occurring when the Meibomian glands become inflamed, blocked or dysfunctional. This can compromise the lipid layer of the tear film, resulting in increased tear evaporation and reduced tear film stability. IPL treatment is thought to help coagulate abnormal superficial blood vessels associated with inflammation. The thermal effects of treatment may also help warm Meibomian gland secretions and dilate gland ducts, facilitating gland expression.
Designed for clinical performance and patient comfort

OptiClear XL incorporates several features designed to support effective and comfortable treatment. Its compact, ergonomic applicator provides excellent visibility of the treatment area, while the cooled sapphire tip helps protect the skin and minimise superficial thermal irritation.
The system incorporates water, forced-air and semiconductor cooling, together with a dedicated OptiClear XL mode that provides gradual heat build-up designed to enhance patient comfort.
Supporting the development of Dry Eye services
For practices looking to introduce or expand in-practice dry eye treatments, OptiClear XL offers several operational advantages. The system requires no disposable treatment tips or cartridges, with an exchangeable handpiece rated for approximately one million pulses. A 60-month warranty for the complete system provides additional reassurance.
OptiClear XL can be incorporated into an MGD treatment pathway alongside dry eye assessment and Meibomian gland expression, enabling practices to broaden the range of treatment options available to their patients.
Grafton Optical also provides an online business case calculator, allowing practices to explore the potential revenue associated with introducing IPL treatments.
