Call for Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians to assist in Special Schools

SeeAbility have recently been commissioned to deliver a special schools eye care service to all special schools across London and the South East of England.

This is a nationwide rollout commissioned by NHSE.

The service brings comprehensive eye tests which are fully accessible for all students. Government guidelines state that students who attend special schools should receive eye care annually.

Research shows a third of children attending special schools need glasses, often to higher prescriptions. SeeAbility can supply high quality  glasses where needed at no cost to families, and provide ongoing support to ensure the glasses are being worn as required.

SeeAbility provide a report in plain English explaining the students’ visual abilities, needs and limitations which is shared with families and school. Research shows 44% of special school students have no eye care history and signs of poor vision can be mistaken for signs of learning disability or autism.

SeeAbility  are looking to recruit Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians to join their team, specifically in South London, North East London, and the SE of England (Surrey & sussex, Kent & Medway, Hamps and IOW and Thames Valley).
