A DAY OF LIVE LEARNING WITH LEONARDO
8th November, This Sunday
EssilorLuxottica is hosting a virtual education day on its learning ecosystem, Leonardo, with a full programme of live CDP sessions covering AI in practice, myopia management, visual perception and light therapy.
Taking place on 8 November 2026, it brings together four expert-led clinical sessions worth four interactive CPD points. Attendees can choose individual sessions or join throughout the day and stay up to date with emerging technologies, evolving treatments and the latest approaches to patient care.
Linda Roxby, Vision Care Education Manager at EssilorLuxottica, said: “We’re bringing together fantastic speakers from across the industry to share their expertise on some of the most relevant topics for ECPs today. It’s a brilliant opportunity to hear the latest thinking, engage with experts and gain interactive CPD points, all through one live event. We’re also delighted to invite ECPs who don’t yet have access to Leonardo to join us and be part of the learning.”
Education day programme:
- 9:00am – 10:15am. Artificial Intelligence: An Optometrist’s Guide to Navigating the Hype with Fiona Buckmaster, an IP optometrist with dual specialties in artificial intelligence (AI) and public health.
This interactive session covers foundational AI concepts and explores its current and emerging applications in optometry. It will help attendees distinguish genuine clinical opportunities from hype and develop the knowledge and confidence to understand and navigate AI within practice.
- 10:30am – 11:45am. Advances in Light Therapy for Ocular Surface Disease with Prof. Dr. Giuseppe Giannaccare, Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Cagliari.
In this session, ECPs will discover how light-based therapies are reshaping the management of ocular surface diseases and explore the clinical evidence and practical applications of Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT).
- 12:30pm – 1:45pm. Myopia Management: Why Length Matters with Elizabeth Yeowart-Montgomery, Medical Science Liaison at EssilorLuxottica.
As the prevalence of myopia continues to increase, this session highlights the clinical importance of axial length measurement and explores how biometry is enhancing modern myopia management.
- 2:00pm – 3:15pm. Clearer with 1 or 2… or a Personal View with Dr Sam Strong, a senior Lecturer at Aston University, specialising in visual perception and visual optics.
This session will explore how the mind shapes what we see, why perceived clarity and blur tolerance can vary between individuals, and what this means for discussing expectations of visual correction.
The event is open to all eye care professionals, with EssilorLuxottica partners able to register through Leonardo and other ECPs via the dedicated registration page.
