Slit lamp donation

Sarah Marshall, store director at Specsavers Bicester, gave a talk to Brackley Rotary Club where she heard about the fundraising efforts to help build a community hospital and medical centre in the town. An eye department was going to be included as part of the facility so, in Autumn 2020 when the building was almost complete, Sarah got in touch to ask if there was any equipment they might need.

‘We’ve been part of the local community for almost 25 years, and if there is an opportunity for us to be able to help make sure local people have access to the very best eye care, we’re only too happy to lend a hand,’ says Sarah. ‘The new hospital is a fantastic facility and will be of huge benefit to those who use it.

‘When I got in touch to ask if we could help in any way, I was told that a slit lamp was a piece of equipment that the eye department would need and I was delighted to present it on behalf of the store. Together with our NHS partners locally, we’re passionate about making sure people have access to ophthalmology services and are sure the slit lamp will make a difference.’

‘We’re extremely grateful to Specsavers for their generous donation,’ says Brackley Community Hospital 2020 Trust treasurer, Paul Bennett. ‘This invaluable piece of equipment will be installed in the Wellington Suite and used by the consultants coming to Brackley.’
