The HETT Show stands for Healthcare Excellence Through Technology.

It is the UK’s leading digital healthcare event that brings together health and care professionals to discuss technology, share knowledge, and drive innovation in the sector.

We reported for the first time last year having been invited by the Congress, a friend and colleague from 100% Optical early days to attend.

Last year we met and were surrounded by primary health workers, GP teams and GP workers as well as ophthalmologists, pharmacists  and many primary care teams as well as many involved in the design of EPR and PMS systems.

We may have missed some people in the crowds but we were surprised to see no other optical delegates other than ourselves.

That is not the fault of the profession but that of a total misunderstanding of the organisers who consider our profession of being outside the scope of HETT meetings.

We tried hard to convince this year’s organisers that our professionals are very much involved in new tech, both in the consulting room, home testing, NHS app and EPR. Let alone “ambient technology.”

The message we received from them was “The feedback I’ve received from our content team is that our agenda isn’t really too relevant for Optometrists and Dispensing opticians.”

We will let you decide as here are some of the highlights we have noted from the agenda, but just attending brings our profession within its ambit.
