SKUGGA TECHNOLOGY AB Wins SILMO D’OR

The Swedish smart technology company, SKUGGA TECHNOLOGY AB has won the SILMO D’OR 2022 Award in the Technological Innovation in Eyewear-Connected Products category – for their ground-breaking miniaturized smart module.

It represents the first design of its kind to be suitable for any kind of fashion frame (both sunglasses and ophthalmic frames), thus opening up the potential of smart technology to all eyewear brands. The patented device measures and offers immediate access to a large amount of information/data that is sent to one’s smartphone/cloud with total integrity of personal data privacy.

“We are honoured to have won the SILMO D’OR,” said CEO Mikael Eriksson following the 29th SILMO D’OR awards presentation on Saturday 24th September, which took place at the 55th edition of the international optical fair SILMO (Villepinte, Paris). “The Award for the Technological Innovation in Eyewear – Connected Products category represents a huge acknowledgement of our achievements thus far in creating a viable smart technology proposition which is so sleek and small, it can be fitted into any frame.”

The SILMO D’OR awards celebrate the talent and creativity of the entire optical industry, paying tribute to innovation and know-how across 10 categories.

PATENTED SMART MODULE

SKUGGA TECHNOLOGY have created the first simple, fully scalable mass-produced technological platform and ecosystem for smart fashion and design-oriented eyewear. The platform is integrated in the form of a streamlined module which will fit a wide variety of frames in different materials such as acetate, 3D-printed polymer and injection plastic frames – without requiring the eyewear brand to compromise on its DNA, style and material quality.

SKUGGA TECHNOLOGY HQ is based in Stockholm – they recently relocated to new offices overlooking Stockholm’s Globe (Avicii Arena), in a state-of-the-art building suited to their growing team. The company has a second office in Milan with sales representatives for customers and manufacturers.

Headed by CEO Mikael Eriksson, SKUGGA’s creative tech team has more than 15 years of experience of advanced product development, and supports projects within the fields of product design, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, IoT and production optimization.
After hundreds of successful projects and several design awards previously, in combination with identifying a unique market opportunity, this successful team wanted to create something revolutionary. SKUGGA Technology was first launched in 2015.
