iDay has been rescheduled to late October

The Independents Day (iDay) business symposium has been rescheduled for Sunday October 24 and with an added benefit for delegates who will receive £200 off if they purchase the More Profits More Often toolkit from the Independent Marketing Partnership.

The one-day symposium is returning to the venue where it all began in 2005, the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. The event will be supported by the iShow exhibition, enabling independents to meet up with suppliers face-to-face.

The More Profits More Often toolkit is a self-study programme which shows practice owners how they can increase their practice’s profit through applying strategies tried with a group of independents and proven to work.

The toolkit includes practical support such as a sales training video on how to dispense more profitable eyewear and telephone consultancy, as well as 25 professionally-written patient recall letters, texts and emails.

Before the event delegates can read the free Profitability Research Report offering 10 key insights from the research project and an analysis of the financial consequences of the pandemic.

Independents Day Director, Nick Atkins, said: “This toolkit is a comprehensive resource that has a lot of straightforward and practical advice for all independent opticians for improving financial performance. I’m pleased that delegates attending iDay21 will not only get a great day of insights into successfully establishing the business of myopia management within their practice, but additionally the benefits of attendance can continue through the excellent resource that is the More Profits More Often toolkit.”

Managing Director of the Independent Marketing Partnership, Graham Hutchison, added: “Delegates can use the programme and watch their practice’s profitability grow. This will be around £34,000 extra profit per year for a typical independent optician.”

The iDay21 event will focus on ‘Commercialising Myopia Management,’ with its keynote speaker US optometrist and entrepreneur Dr Gary Gerber. The other speakers include optometrist Sarah Morgan, Nick Black, chief executive of award-winning BBR Optometry and myopia control specialist optometrist Nick Dash.

“This is possibly the first meeting anywhere in the world focussed on changing our commercial approach from a transactional sales model that simply corrects paediatric myopia, to a therapeutic model of managing a child’s myopic progression,” Mr Atkins concluded.

Early bird pricing is available until August 31. Individual booking for the event is £129 and for a practice team of at least three people its £99 per person, excluding VAT.
