OBITUARY 

Sheila Ann Purser FBDO SMC(Disp) FBOA 1955 – 2026

It is with much sadness that we are sharing that Sheila Purser the Essex LOC Chairman and PES Clinical Lead, passed away in February.  She contributed to the careers, in lots of different ways, for many people across Essex for over 50 years, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

During her working life, Sheila was passionate about primary care and was an advocate for both Optometry and the vital role of Dispensing Opticians within the eyecare sector across Essex.

She spent most of her working years within Boots where she was able to support the career developments of many professionals with a firm but caring hand, she simply wanted the best for her patients..

As Chairman of the Essex LOC, she had a significant impact on the working lives of many people by facilitating the patient access to enhanced services within their local High Streets.   Both Boots and then the LOC she ran as a tight ship.
