Webinar to discuss treating keratoconus with contact lenses

An upcoming BCLA webinar will look at ways of using contact lenses to treat keratoconus, taking a trip down Memory Lane to see how the technology has evolved over time.

The session will be led by specialist optometrists Rachel Davison and Bronagh Clarke, who said: “This session will explore how contact lens fitting in keratoconus has evolved over the last 20 years and what are the newest developments on the market.

“We will look at a range of different types of contact lens, their indications and potential complications and also offer some clinical pearls on fitting techniques and troubleshooting.”

Titled ‘Keratoconus: In practice (How to treat with contact lenses)’, the webinar

will be held from 7pm on Tuesday, 3 September.

This webinar is open to all members and one CPD point will also be available to all that are eligible to receive.

Rachel Davison has 11 years of experience in medical contact lens fitting. A non-medical independent prescriber, she spent four years working in Moorfields Eye Hospital and now works for the Belfast Trust. As well as the contact lens clinics, she also works in the Eye Casualty, corneal and paediatric services.

Bronagh Clarke has 15 years of experience in complex medical contact lens fitting. She was previously Joint Head of the Contact Lens Department at Moorfields Eye Hospital and now works in the Belfast Trust.  She has worked with colleagues in Moorfields to establish the use of In Vivo Confocal Microscopy in clinical care and has published and presented in this area.
