GOC erases Croydon based student dispensing optician

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to erase Tina Stevens, a student dispensing optician based in Croydon, from its register.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to train impaired by reason of misconduct/conviction and in the wider public interest. This is in relation to being convicted of four offences under the Social Security Administration Act 1992 relating to benefit fraud (in 2011), and then failing to declare them in both her student registration application (completed in 2019) and student retention application (completed 2020).

Ms Stevens has until 26 October 2022 to appeal her erasure.
