Glaucoma UK survey: why patient voices matter for everyday care

Glaucoma UK is asking practices, clinics and optical teams to help more patients share their experiences of living with glaucoma. The charity’s National Patient Voices Survey is open until 6 September 2026 and aims to gather responses from 10,000 people across the UK.

For practices, this is more than a national charity survey. It is a chance to help build a clearer picture of what glaucoma care feels like from the patient’s side: how appointments are managed, how information is understood, where support is working well and where gaps remain. Joanne Creighton, chief executive of Glaucoma UK, said there is “a genuine opportunity to place the experiences of patients right at the heart of the changes currently happening in glaucoma care.”

Why this matters to practice
Glaucoma is a long-term condition that depends on ongoing monitoring, good communication and patient confidence in care pathways. Encouraging patients to complete the survey could help highlight practical issues that affect adherence, access and understanding, giving the sector better evidence to improve services.

Practical takeaway
Practices can support the survey by sharing the link in patient emails, texts, newsletters, social media posts or routine patient communications. Glaucoma UK has also published promotional materials on its website to make local sharing easier.
