OSA and Fight for Sight Celebrate Successful First Joint Summer Event raising £10,000

The Optical Suppliers Association (OSA) has hailed its first joint Summer Members’ Event with Fight for Sight as a resounding success, following two days of fundraising, networking and industry collaboration at The Warwickshire Hotel on 22 and 23 July 2026 which saw an amazing £10,000 raised.

Bringing together OSA members from across the optical sector alongside regular supporters of Fight for Sight, the event combined the charity’s annual Golf Day with the OSA Summer Members’ Event for the first time, creating a packed programme of sporting, business and networking activities.

The event proved popular with both golfers and non-golfers alike, with members enjoying a range of activities throughout the two days. Adding to the celebrations, the OSA golf team claimed victory in the tournament, while the event raised funds to support Fight for Sight’s vital research and sight loss initiatives.

OSA Chair James Conway said: “Our first joint event with Fight for Sight exceeded expectations. It brought together suppliers from across the industry in a relaxed environment that encouraged networking, collaboration and the sharing of ideas, whilst supporting an incredibly important charity. The feedback from members has been overwhelmingly positive, and there was a real sense that this should become a regular fixture in the optical calendar.”

Debbie White – Chair of the Warwickshire Fight for Sight Committee added:   “It was such a fantastic day and incredibly heartwarming to see so many teams come together, especially those joining us through our merger with the OSA.

Fight for Sight is a charity that is very close to my heart. Living with sight loss myself, I know how important research is in giving hope to future generations. Every conversation, every donation and every team taking part has helped raise awareness and vital funds that will make a real difference. I can’t thank everyone enough for their generosity and support”.

Alongside the fundraising activities, members attended the OSA Summer Members’ Meeting, which provided updates on several key industry initiatives.

Members heard the latest developments for 100% Optical 2027, including revised opening hours, continued growth of the 100% Ophthalmology programme and opportunities for OSA members to contribute educational content to next year’s exhibition.

Updates were also provided on the work of the OSA Dry Eye Committee, which is developing a number of new resources for suppliers and eye care professionals, including market intelligence, clinical surveys and educational initiatives designed to support the continued growth of the dry eye sector.

Regulatory Consultant Mathias Semombwe delivered the latest update on UK and EU medical device regulation, including changes affecting CE marking, MHRA registration and forthcoming regulatory requirements.

The success of the inaugural joint event has already prompted discussions about repeating the format in 2027, with members expressing strong support for building on this year’s successful collaboration with Fight for Sight.
