New Chipping Norton practice opens its doors

A new Specsavers has opened its doors in Chipping Norton, West Oxfordshire by a team with decades of experience.

The high street practice is headed up by optical directors, Sundeep Rana, Trevor Robinson and Cathy Mullen – who bring more than 80 years of optical experience – alongside audiology director Sebastian de Scarfo.

Patients will be supported by the friendly and knowledgeable 10-strong team at the new practice. It also features three test rooms, a contact lens area and technology including an OCT scan, plus an extensive range of frames to suit all styles and budgets.

At the official opening on Friday 8 May, the new practice welcomed two well-known and local ‘Geralds’ as part of the celebrations. Gerald Cooper from Clarkson’s Farm and Gerald Stratford, who is famed for sharing his love of growing big vegetables on Instagram, joined the team for the ribbon cutting.

Representatives from Chipping Norton & District Cricket Club as well as Chipping Norton Swifts FC and Age UK were also invited to the official opening. The practice is a sponsor of the two sports teams, while the latter is the charity partner of the practice’s Chatterbox bi-monthly informal chat, cake and cuppa offering in the Lower Town Hall.

‘We were overwhelmed with the support we received as part of the official opening,’ says Sundeep. ‘It was fantastic to celebrate all of the hard work that has gone into getting the practice ready to open. Making sure we are supporting and playing a part in the local community is something that is extremely important to us.’

The official opening also saw the team make a £2,000 donation to Prostate Cancer UK as well as visitors enjoying a host of sweet and savory treats, including slices of a celebratory cake.

Sundeep adds: ‘Yes, we want to provide the very best eye and ear care service, but making sure we are giving back is also part of who we are.’

Sundeep, Cathy and Trevor are also the team behind Specsavers Witney. Alongside the expert eyecare service, audiology appointments will be available seven days a week.

‘It was wonderful to welcome so many people to our launch,’ says Trevor. ‘It felt like the culmination of lots of work behind the scenes, and to have so much support shown to us and the whole team was just brilliant.

‘Now we’re looking forward to making sure we look after all the eye and ear care needs of the community as well as continuing to support the local causes and initiatives that are important to us.’
